Something that really bugs me is that when someone uses say a certain type of synthesis like granular, or maybe chops up a sample into pieces, well then "they must be copying Autechre!" or bullshit like that. You mean to tell me that because one person uses a certain type of synthesis or makes something complex, that means that they're copying Autechre? That's completely stupid that people would think that. I can understand though in sometimes a lot of cases, it actually sounds like someone is directly copying them (style of sounds, or melody, etc) but Autechre are not any different than any of us. We're all human. Anyone experimenting with a computer or a modular synth is going to come up with some cool sounds eventually. I think part of the reason people think that Autechre are the future of "IDM" is cause for the most part* nothing better ever comes out. (I think we can all relate to this, although there is some really cool stuff out lately *(Lexaunculpt, Richard Devine) that's really wicked. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
