Who came up with that description?

A bit on the soft side really. No tracks bite out at you with the aggressiveness of some previous Klute work. Not that this is a bad thing. Its definitely still not as smooth/sappy as bukem or the like. Continuing with the comparison to earlier klute, the sound here is thicker. as in more layers. but the layers are used properly so it doesnt sound busy, just adds a feeling of depth. similar pattern as in mbm's subliminal sandwich vs sparser earlier releases. drums patterns are also more stacatto and complex...the break on three of us is really nice. no canned breaks or shit youve already heard here. some tasteful use of femme vox on various tracks. unlike photek solaris theyre actually catchy here instead of annoying...mainly due to restraint in usage via proper eq/processing to not make them stick out like a sore thumb. re: production in general, this guy really has an obsessive attention to detail. not that this is bad. mostly dnb still, theres a few midtempo breaks as you mentioned, and a couple techno tracks with highly repetitive synth noises reminiscent of jeff mills. the feel/tempo is pretty consistent throughout, however. and the remixes by hefner and matrix are worth picking up as well. oh, and i havent heard any autechre samples in this, which breaks from the rule that theres usually at least one in every certificate 18 release. who would like this? fans of cert18 artists like polar and lexis, those who liked second bad vilbel but wished more ae tracks were full of energy and percussion, those who dont like directionless bleep/click/wank idm but get bored with straight ahead dance music and want a happy medium. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
