I have to chime in there and admit liking "Koochy" (besides the neat lil' coinkidink of it being the unofficial pronunciation of KUCI)... Normally, I'm not too hot on songs that modernize/plunder a familiar hit single of the past... but somehow the tune and the 4/4 thumps go well together this time. It's very anthemic in a commercial pop sense, which sometimes works just right. (Then again, I like that Cuban Boys track that plunders "The Hamster Dance", so take my opinion with a micron of salt) The thing that annoys me most about the track is not the Numan plunder but the overused line-switching and wikka-wikka-wikka-wikka-peecheeeuuuuuw record breaks. Why can't he just let the track build and build and not spoil the momentum with boastful dee-jay cliches? Otherwise, "Killing Puritans" is a hit/miss record. Some great moments, and some rather dull moments. ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> KUCI 88.9 fM in Irvine, CA -- Orange County ======================================================================= On Mon, 21 Aug 2000, Irene McC wrote:
