Solostuff from Lee R. on diverse labels such as the reissue on Drunken Fish of "inscriptions", and that great cd on Barooni which been released only a couple of weeks ago. Thurston Moore had soloefforts as well as contributions to hundreds of labels, giving these labels a chance and focussing more on "experiment" and tonal ladders. This being Idm, i would like to point out that their Ciccone Youth "Whitey album" had great "dancetracks" on it. "Macbeth" for instance is a favourite of mine. Even so... Most of the experimental side of Sy could be classified under "ambient". do also check out early works from Glenn Branca which features guitarplay from some members of Sy, (as well as Band of Susans, Swans etc...) You could go on and on about SY... Me personally, i think you can put them on the same line as Velvet Underground, Beatles, Beach Boys and other legendary bands. There's one difference: they try to keep up with their roots (aka punkrockfeeling) and live up to that in a certain way which only deserves respect. History will show what impact they had on guitar, expermental and contemporary music. j --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
