Er...? Csound syntax is actually much more like straight assembly language than like C. And C syntax is pretty different from Java too (don't know Perl), which is more like C++. You may be thinking of the excellent Super Collider, an object-oriented audio programming language available only for Mac. If you have a Mac, I can't recommend it enough for its supreme power, realtime capability, and all-around flexibility. But if, like me, you don't have a Mac, Csound is one of the best languages available for other platforms, and it's extremely portable.
