Though there are no hard and fast rules, consensus summary of
Detroit's "waves" seems to be:
First wave:
The "Holy Trinity" (Atkins, May, Saunderson)
"Techno 1" & "Techno 2" comp participants (Octave One, Eddie Fowlkes,
Shake, K Alexi, etc.)
Second Wave:
UR, Mills, Hawtin
Third Wave:
Claude Young, Sean Deason, Drexciya, Alan Oldham, Kelli Hand, etc.
Fourth Wave:
Ectomorph, Le Car, Adult, Recloose, many others
Of course, it gets _way_ more complicated if you start trying
to figure out where the house (KDJ, Theo Parrish, etc.) and
booty (Godfather, Assault, etc.) guys fit in...
