Modernist: Modernist Explosion USA 2000 (Matador)
Theo Parrish: Sound Signature comp and both mix discs
Simulant: Out of Ether 12" (Scopex)
John Beltran: Sky Series Volume II 12" (Sky)
(I haven't even heard this yet, I'm just so excited about Beltran's
return!)
all the 2000 Black 12"s
Isolee and (judging from past experience) Lo Soul CD's (Playhouse)
DJ Rolando: The Aztec Mystic Mix CD (UR)
Moodymann: one-sided 12" (Moods & Grooves)
Plaid: Trainer 2CD (Warp)
(this one isn't even out, but I'm familiar with 90% of the tracks)
A rather scattered bunch of stuff, but all fairly recent and
absolutely monstrous. Totally with everyone praising Pub:
"Summer" was a fabulous track. Also SND must be checked
out by anyone who hasn't yet: their full-length was great, but
their 12"s are even better (with the exception of the first Blir,
although the second w/Komet sounds promising). Tplay is
stark and bleak, Newtables is dubby, and Travelog is warm,
but they all retain that same SND precision enchantment.
Now we've waited long enough. Someone in the UK needs to
put out a Nuron CD retrospective. How about a disc compiling
Evolution 3, 4, 5 and Symbiotic 1 while we're at it?
