You asked for an off list reply, but I'm posting this bit of helpful info for those in the NYC area...Its funny that you mention that you're looking for a hawtin/mills type of vibe but want to avoid Twilo. While I do understand your reluctance to Twilo ( btw, for those elsewhere, Twilo is NYC's pentultimate "mega-club" ) its ironic because Hawtin is playing there later this month on a weeknight in the smaller room and its been rumored for months that Mills will have a weekly residency there ...no confirmation on that rumor, though. Anyways, Twilo can have good guests, I saw Brinkmann and Suburban Knight there last week. Check out dj Spinoza's weekly NYC area email list, see subscribe info below. His list covers all the bases.
