RITORNELL is a sublabel of MILLE PLATEAUX. Release 10 is the first
compilation of this explorative journey in tones. The problematic of
RITORNELL is shifted. Electricity in its raw form is marketed in the form of
electronics and electronic music and makes its power obvious by a
standardised distribution. From the point of design, RITORNELL is
acknowledging this standardisation. The design is produced in series. But
the content of what is in the sleeves refers to specific formalities,
non-rhythmic music and design, microscopic effects and reduction. The
problem is the rediscovery of electricity in its pure form, for example the
generating and modulation of sinus tones, the cut-copy-paste-funk, the
involvement of sonic textures or digital residualism. Like CLICKS& CUTS or
MODULATION & TRANSFORMATION, the new compilation gives a view on electronic
music for tomorrow. Involved are artists, which released already albums on
RITORNELL like the island duo STILLUPPSTEYPA, californian soundgenerator KIM
CASCONE, NY based artist TAYLOR DEUPREE, DEAN ROBERTS, and Frankfurt based

Take mille plateaux for instance, how many copies did they make of say,
vladislav delay's entain album and how many have been sold so far?
