your plea for "stupid questions" not being posted to the list anymore is unfortunately more ignorant than any topic/request you deign to be unworthy of your personal consideration for "informed"and "mature" discussion. any authority you may think that you possess that makes you arrogant enough to speak for the rest of us on this list is illusory. AND since i'm certain that there are others out in this little community who are inclined to agree with you, i'm directing this response at them, as well (just so YOU don't feel personally attacked....) while certain seemingly obvious and redundant questions might be answered with a simple point-and-click of someone's mouse on one of many, many search engines, i agree with a previous reply that THIS is where neophytes are coming (and should be coming) for information about artists and music that may have just buzzed the periphery of their awareness. there are many places to go when you have questions, but let's face it: if you have access to this kind of resource, why not ask? hell, if someone was informed enough to subscribe to this list and begin asking questions, then they're on the right track. and i assure you that some of them will become assets to this list as well as to the electronic music community in general, both as artists and as fans. newness brings freshness, and anyone with a continuing interest in anything being discussed on this list will certainly want to gain more insight, acquire more information and later, possibly CONTRIBUTE to the discussions contained herein. this is called "learning." i'd like to think it's being encouraged here and elsewhere. if therefore, you find that there are too many "stupid" questions being asked you have several options: 1. unsubscribe 2. start your own mailing list 3. get the digest version and scroll down, and grin and bear the "bandwidth/memory loss." 4. deal with it, ie, stoicism, offline therapy/punching bag/temper tantrum, etc in sum, your request accomplishes nothing more than to alienate people and annoy those of us who would rather not have to write in with this sort of reply and obfuscate the flow of discussion about music and artists, as i agree that there is nothing better on these lists than when there is a dynamic exchange of ideas about something we're all into. but you gotta allow for extraneous discussions and for questions that fly outside the scope of your own radar of "sophistication," or whatever you choose to call it. but...since we're on the topic of stupidity and immaturity (and this IS directed at you, "brock"): your comment "about turf wars in compton" pretty much refutes your request that no stupidity be wafted under anyone's nose on this list. i happened to have spent a good number of the years of my life in both the north long beach and compton areas, and i find your remarks pretty fucking stupid, immature AND offensive. i seriously doubt you know anything about compton, or any area where "turf wars" occur, having grown up, it seems, out somwhere in samesville. otherwise, you might not have made such an assinine remark. but, if i'm gonna be on this list, i have to accept that from time to time i'm going to be opening these lists up to read/discuss and find them splattered with inanity and contradiction. that's the price i pay for engaging in such a forum, and excepting the occasional tangential shit like this that absofuckinglutely crying to be addressed, i gots no beef with it. why do you? word. / out vid66 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
