It's interesting how different perspectives are on this list. This ep gets my vote as the best of the year - there's something refreshingly demented about mutilating show tunes (perhaps that's why v/vm are so popular now?). Sound of Music seems to take the packed sonics of _Busy, Curious, Thirsty_ and match them well with the more studied academic approach of _Treader_. Seeing that Ashley Wales is/was a classical composer (or is Coxon - check the engineering credit on LFO's "Tied Up"), perhaps the ambient wash is reflecting this approach more than the dance floor emphasis. "Death Futures" certainly is eons removed from the slide guitar and big beats of _68 Million Shades ..._. Or they just wished to contribute to the genealogy of "My Favorite Things" ... they acquit themselves well. Like an idiot, I JUST got Jochem Paap's _Vrs Mbnt Pcs 2_. Could someone post (again, sorry) a store's webdress where I might find #1? Thanks. If it's anywhere near as good as "vx snth" I'll pay an extortioner's rate.
