Coldcut / DJ Food mix CD's...
-Journeys by DJ : 70 Minutes of Madness (mixed by Jon More/Matt
Black/Strictly Kev/P.C). Tricky to find, but we're working on a re-issue
for Ninja's 10th anniversary next year. No guarantees but we're trying.
If not they'll cook up another classic mix.
-ColdKrushCuts (disc 1 mixed by Jon More/Matt Black/Strictly Kev/P.C)
-Tone Tales 1 (it's been awhile, but if memory serves...it was Jon
More/Matt Black)
-Tone Tales 2 (as above)
-Stone Chilled Groove (More/Black/Strictly/P.C)
-Blech 2 (Strictly Kev/P.C)
-Night Before The Morning After : Ninja Tune/Tribal split CD mix that was
given away with DJ Magazine (More/Black presumably, but I've lost the
original magazine with the credits)
...I could be wrong on the Tone Tales. I don't have them in front of me.
Of course there is also numerous 'Solid Steel' mix tapes that circulate
quite heavily. Basically when it says 'mixed' (as in DJ not remix) by
Coldcut it's usually More/Black/Strictly/P.C (with some early
exceptions). 'Produced' by Coldcut is More/Black with collaborators. DJ
mixes by DJ Food are Strictly/P.C. Produced by DJ Food can be a combo of
any of the above. Except for the record which we're putting out in
February which is Strictly/P.C with collaborations with Ken Nordine and
Bundy Brown....confused yet?
Oh...and I would say best 'modern' ambient record would have to go to
Spacetime Continuum 'Sea Biscuit'. Pressure is just such a classic tune,
and then the rest of it is guaranteed to have me asleep in about 15
minutes. A permanant bed-side CD. Coming in 2 & 3 would be Global Com.
76:14, and Namlook/Hawtin 'From Within'. This is strictly based on
records guaranteed to put me to sleep no matter how fucked a day. Reich's
'Music for 18 Musicians' and Riley's 'Rainbow in Curved Air' win in the
'older ambient' category.
