Yep yep yep...this is an excellent release (music and packaging).
Carpark did this one some justice. As Greg states, the jarring
percussion you'd expect is there, but melodic invention is foregrounded
this time.
I get the sense Jake's music may soon eclipse the work of more revered
artists oft praised on this list; it's obvious to my ear that his
knowledge of jazz composition is starting to set him apart as one of the
musicians in the genre...as opposed to the sound tinkerers. In making
that distinction, I'll posit that one isn't "better" than the other,
just different.
Topping that off with the Various Artists 8.8.5.9.Remixes makes
yesterday a banner day for the Postal industry.
