I recall there being some brief mention of the V/VM tribute to Falco last week or so. Anyhow, I got the record in the mail yesterday and this morning before I left for work I gave it a quick listen. My opinion? I really don't see how this can be called a tribute. It is so completely far from anything like the originals (6 songs included on the double 7") that I have no idea what the point is. I noticed also on the V/VM tribute from the FAQT magazine CD that the style is similar; time-stretched vocals, lots of distortion, cd skipping sounds, skips, pops, click hisses. So is this it? Is this the V/VM sound? Next. I also got the new Minus record called PK. Interesting record, absolutely NOTHING like Minus Orange. Closer to Consumed than anything else. One side I would call an "acappella" of the other. Im terrible with reviews so I apologize, but one side has beats and the other doesn't so there ya go. Imagine any track from Consumed, then put a beat in front of it = PK Next. I got the Peshay vs. Special Forces double pack. Excited I was to hear something new from Photek so I ordered it. There are 4 tracks - 2 by Special Forces, 2 by Peshay. No collaboration so its not much of a "vs". The only track I like is Exocet which sounds SO similar to Photek's - "The Bleeps Tune" it's funny. Whatever, they'll probably mix together quite well... I also just got some CD's I should have bought long ago: Derrick May - Innovator - Haven't listened to it yet (i expect to hear many classics) E-Dancer - Heavenly - Listened to it today and yesterday and except for 2 or 3 tracks I love it. Carl Craig - More Songs About Food - Haven't heard it yet Detroit - Beyond the 3rd Wave - haven't heard it yet. Warp 10 + 1 Influences - Heard the first 3 tracks of Disc 1, pretty much what you'd expect lotsa old electro and music to break to Over the weekend I got the LTJ Bukem double cd album - Journey Inwards and I must say that I really love this album. Great stuff. Highly recommended. Easy listening. thstsall shimone --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
