On previous versions, you can only change the volume of individual hits, and couldn't change the volume of a sample once it's started other then hitting it again with a different level. This works fine for drums and shit but sucks for pads, loops, etc. The new version, 2.01, lets you record and edit many of the knobs including the master and individual part volumes. And it also responds to midi controllers, which is dope. Check it out.

I personally use cubase vst24 and love it, but have friends (mainly lex and pieter k) who use logic and swear by it because of the total control you have over midi AND audio. Both of these guys do stuff that would be a serious pain in the ass in cubase. Other then that that, all I can say is the fruity loops is a great program but you will find that step programming, although fun, can be extremely limiting. And with super duper softsynths like reaktor/audiomulch/reality/AS1/DS1/etc, you really need a serious sequencer to get down to the nitty gritty of these beasts. Not to mention a piece of gear with a bunch of knobs that all send midi controller data like a virus, basstation, phatboy or 4control.
