this is an interesting point greg raises.... i've generally followed the same policy -- i figure that there's so much brilliant music out there, i don't need to waste my time (and readers' time) writing about crap, when i can give the space to something worthy. however, lately i've had a few occasions to change my tune. i'm beginning to think that when a horrible release is *also* indicative of a larger trend -- and/or backed by the force of major marketing muscle, who try to push it down the throats of listeners (and try to establish "street cred" by getting underground-y publications to cover it) -- then it's worth slagging and slagging hard. an upcoming palm pictures release is case in point, though i'm generous enough not to name names here. p --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
