A couple of comments on this one.
I remember seeing a real video feed about a year ago in which hawtin was
djing. It was highly experimental and at times there would be so much
reverb that a beat no longer existed. But people still danced. Of course
the set started off in a very normal manner. I was hoping that the EFX
release would be like this. It isn't.
However that does not make a it bad thing. There are two ways to look at
it. From a technical aspect and from a music aspect. Technically what he
is doing is pretty amazing. Switching out records that quickly and
incorporating them seemlessly is hard to do (I know some of you won't
agree...). Musically it accomplishes something for me. The sheer
repetition allows one to escape for awhile. Sure it is a guilty pleasure
but it is nice all the same.
