yo could you guys stop it with the "best of 1999" lists already i mean, there's a whole month left loads of good stuff gets released around this time of year only this week i've gotten hold of more good record than the rest of the year put together (slight exaggeration) here's some first impressions: various "osmosis" (leaf) beatiful electronic listening music from artists like gripper, susumu yokota, 310, a small good thing. and some hard-on-the-ear stuff, too. but hey, it's well worth the money (cheap). stigh strandh vs rutherford "maskinell sex utan skydd" (tsunami) slow breakbeaty acid - think hardfloor's first dadamnphreaknoizphunk ep, but played live for 70 mins. really good (mechanical sex without protection). alpha omega "journey to the 9th level" (reinforced) good, varied drum'n'bass - some slammin tracks and some chill out music. freQ.Nasty "freQ's, gerKs mutilaTions" (botchit & scarper) oldskool hiphop, cut-up, electro meets new sounds. a few brilliant (fun) tracks. some interesting vocals on this one. capitol K "sounds of the empire" (planet mu) a bit hard to define after just one listen, but i remember it being the best planet mu release i've heard (which maybe isn't saying that much). well, it was something like the electronic fuckery you'd expect from planet mu, but better. aux88/various "aux 88 presents electro boogie" (!k7) not a big aux88 fan, this is still a great electro compilation. 'course, that many kraftwerk samples at the start of the record is a bit dodgy, isn't it? but i seem to remember dave clarke doing a better job. and soon the isan album on morr music is coming out, too. so it's a bit early to submit the best of lists already, isn't it? hs --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
