A short while ago I was faced with the task of creating a number of
MDs for a friend. He's into the likes of Tangerine Dream, Vangelis and
Jarre but has never bothered with modern electronica (or IDM, or
whatever you want to call it), because the likes of 2 Unlimited and
the Prodigy's more comedic turns have tainted his perception of what
"techno" might sound like.
So, here's what I came up with. Anyone else created similar
compilations for IDM virgins? If so, what tracks did you choose and
what was the end result? I completed these MDs a while back but have
yet to post them off to him:

The first MD was intended to be a relatively "gentle" introduction to
the genre, containing a lot of melodic stuff with excellent production
work.
