Hello Bruce,
Two excellent releases...
. Benge: the very best of benge cd (sub rosa)
As the title suggests this is a "greatest hits" type releases featuring
11 tracks taken from his six cd-releases on his own Expanding label.
The sound of Benge one of spacious downtempo electronica with
beautiful drawn out melodies and subtle persuccions. On a some
tracks touches of loungy jazz, electro, and dub are also added to
the mix. At times Benge reminds me of Emanate label artist
if.then.else and other times of Freeform's quieter tracks but at
all times Benge is produces enjoyable music that fans of smooth
melodic electronica should enjoy.
. Neina: formed verse cd (mille plateaux)
I highly recommend it if you're into beatless warm melodic
soundscapes mixed with a sprinkling of light pops & glitches,
distant vocals snippets, and an odd environmental sample or
two. Comparison to Oval's Diskont 94, Robert Babciz's excellent
MoMent album, Microstoria's Reprovisers (for the variety in
sounds), & SND albums all apply well to Neina.
