. Genf: Rohgenf LP (Finlayson Tonträger/FTV 013) For those not familiar with Genf, they are a Cologne trio comprised of Jens Massel (aka Kandis), Oliver Brand, and Olaf Karnik. Their sound combines elements of post-rock, kraut-rock, and touches of funky electronica. No one comparison fits but if you're familiar with the whole Tortoise, The Sea & Cake, Kreidler, Bergheim34, To Rococo Rot sound then mix that with some extra funk & freestyle electronic touches and you'll have a rough estimation of the sound of Genf. Genf's Rohgenf LP on Finlayson Tonträger is probably their lesser known release. If you are familiar with Genf it's probably from their Import/ Export cd or the Import/Export remix 12", both of which came out on the german Compost label a year or two ago. I especially liked the Import/ Export remix 12" for the quirky Kandis remix and the groovy Hans Nieswandt (aka Whirlpool) remix. I admit that i dont listen to my Genf releases all that much but on the occasions that I'm in the mood for Genf, I thoroughly enjoy them. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
