How can you say you stopped paying attention 2 years ago, then also make a
generalization?
The breaks are more interesting now than they've been since 94, IMHO.
Check out the stuff coming from UFO and the Pneuma/Thermal/Green labels,
even most of the UK stuff is mixing it up with different variations, bongo
drums,
ram, badco, spirit, dillinga...really most of the big producers are off of a
straight 2-step sound.
Now i wouldn't say there's anything completely revolutionary coming out of
the core of drum+bass right now, but there's def some incredible sounding
tracks...
its definitely *not* dead as a genre.
