at one point, Seven was dead-set on licensing Bisk's "Strange or Funny Ha-Ha"
from Sub Rosa for a US/vinyl release. i guess that never happened. but it's
no surprise to hear of some other joint venture between the Florida crew and
Fujikawa-san.
re: CF
while the "Hotel Paral.lel" vs. "Plays" debate rages, no one has mentioned
Fennesz' great "Ex Libro Mio" 3" yet. or his untitled contribution to the
"Picknick Mit Hermann" CD on Rhiz - maybe my favorite single Fennesz piece -
or his wicked DJ Pure remix on Sub/Version. or the fact that Jim O'Rourke's
Moikai label will be reissuing the awesome "Instrument" 12" on CD - probably
with extra material. or the Di-n mini-LP, a Fennesz-Harding-Rehberg
performance that benefits immeasurably from his presence (as straight Pita
tends to lack something that Fennesz has to offer in spades). a little pricey
for a one-sided/21min track, but the quality of the pressing and chic matte
sleeve justify the cost. something of a teaser for Touch's eagerly
anticipated/long-delayed release of the Fenn-O-Berg CD...
Fennesz fiends also NEED to hear the improvised duet between guitarist Noel
Akchoté and Joel Ryan (computer) on the Parker/Akchoté/Casserley/Ryan - Live
at "Les Instants Chavirés" CD on Leo. very possibly the greatest and most
overlooked release of 1998. "Plays," schmays... the Akchoté/Ryan improv is
DSP's finest moment. run, don't walk, as the man said...
