You know, for all us 20- and 30- somethings here, "Sesame Street" was a bigger musical influence than we think...the late Joe Raposo, who wrote most of the music for the show, used a lot of jazz and boogaloo influences in the music. And lets not forget that Herbie Hancock himself also composed the funkier numbers for the show (i.e. "1-2-3-4-5...(The Pinball Song)" and the closing credits theme (with the horns and bells).
