It's not that the Gap adds aren't good- they're a little *too* good. They're a little too "hip" for their own good. And the "Everybody in Gap" sloganeerings made even my 14-year-old brother raise an eyebrow. (I liked Method Man's "Everybody in Stank Butt Jeans" video spoof...) Aesthetically- in regard to lighting, choice of music, "composition" if that term's applicable to filmed visuals, models- they're impeccable, it's the culture or lack thereof behind them that should make our stomachs turn.
