yeah too bad for me I spend more time making music than collecting it.. I
want to collect music in the future but right now all my money goes toward my
music (weed goes under music catagory). I use the list much the same as you
do, I came to it as a resource.. i simply do not use this resource as much as
you do. Your obsession is music as well as mine, it's just I am more obsessed
with exploring the sound I can create.. or do you make music as well?
I'm just lazy.. my bullshit is unjustified, maybe I was feeling a little
co-orest (or however you spell that, but I think that's a pretty creative
spelling) by ae's post to do some mindless idm-bashing.
But here's what I was thinking in the car just a few minutes ago (listening
to music of course) if I can remember the gist of it..

You've got this whole list of people who supposadly.. even though this is
very *unofficial* so I don't want to hear a bunch of cries later about it,
but from a general perspective, this group, to this 1000 some odd folk,
Autechre is practically a brand name. And for good reason, Autechre's music
has alot of something in it, something I'd rather discuss only in person to
delve into the depths of but not here, not now, because that's not what this
post is about. But this something has stirred up a few good minds I will tell
you that. And Ae of course are not the only great musicians on this earth but
they are good and they are genuine. Oh now isn't that just a little too
mooshy and mushy for the idm list.. but anyways...
so there's this list of people who listen to this music and Ae is a big deal
to them.. but how could Ae become a part of this list. Now this is all just
stormed from my brain, it's all theorectical.. (it has to be I'm on idm)
we know Sean and Rob have been reading the list, that much can be assumed..
but how much who knows, who cares. What we do know is that they've thought
about the idea of becoming comfortable with communicating on the list,
perhaps even on a regular basis.
Sean and Rob invisioned themselves coming onto this list as regulars..
it weirded them out to think of the multitude of geeky worshipers who would
be reading their words drooling at every drop.. every letter... what would
this be like?? who would they repsond to? would they only post to the list,
but not take responses? or would they only respond to a select few? would it
develop into some kind of strange monarchy? .... erk.... and I quote

The most recent conversations I've had on the list have been with some of the
most mature and inspiring people I've yet met here. Perhaps Sean and Rob
acted too hastily.. if they only gave their insites and kept the exchange of
information low.. oh wait.. but then.. who would they choose to respond
to?....
Yes, it's probably in their best interests not to get involved in the list.
There has to be a seperation of celebrities and their public. It just
wouldn't work, it'd end up being like some kind of secret club.. those people
who could talk to Ae and those who couldn't. Sean and Rob don't want it like
that, god who could indure such bullshit. (not that I've ever met them)
But a message to Sean and Rob, I'm sure you must know there is a multitude of
great people out there and some of them subscribe to this list.. I know you
know that more than I do because you've actually had the chance to meet quite
a few of them..
You can't take the list as a whole and call all of it's contents shit... I'm
sure you already know that, but as the same thing I have been guilty of
myself, you needed to react on what you felt was right at the time.
I'm not in depth on this list or your personality enough to truly know what
bothered you but what I said above it what it seems like. I imagined it

neuron-spark about it.. I know why, you couldn't do that, you can't do that,
it'd be vain, it'd be all eyes on you, it's bad enough now, but this would
put you in some kind of weird thing where'd you'd be doing it on a regular

don't always say the right thing? So how can you trust what I'm saying? Don't
trust another's words, only take what your own heart tells you is wisdom.
