i can't speak for most of those labels as i've considered their output mediocre from the start (and i reserve my rather interesting-bashing for the atom heart list). however, the point stands: the artists and releases on those labels are not discussed with the consistency and veracity that skam artists and releases are. the alternative to following labels/artists that you've liked in the past is calling bullshit on them when they release inferior product. (hey, i bought the push-button objects EP too!), not continuing to speak highly of them because, basically, they didn't totally suck (that pbo comes close, tho). i think my point is that a lot of great music is coming out that skam has nothing to do with, and yet people continue to limit themselves to the known. considering skam's recent ouput, i can only guess at their motivation for doing so...let me put my money where my mouth is, though. these are some of the releases that i think skam people would be very interested in if they weren't so concerned about labels: -- Funckarma, Funckarma EP (Djak-Up-Bitch) -- Duplex, Duplex EP (Djak-Up-Bitch) -- EOG, EOG EP (Djak-Up-Bitch) -- Various Artists, Connecting Electro-nix Networks (Nature) -- O.S.T., Fashion for Passion (Dial) -- To Rococo Rot + D, s/t (Soul Static Sound) -- Lowfish, Fear Not the Snow... (Suction) -- Nobukazu Takemura, Meteor (Thrill Jockey) -- Arovane, Icol Diston (Din) sc
