Do it all the time. In fact I only ever get paid
when I do big events or "proper" clubs. Small
bars, own events, etc. are usually done for
nothing.
On this thread, Kid Koala, Amon Tobin and DJ Food took
the time to meet a bunch of local DJ's in Cape Town recently.
About 15 of us met up with them at this small bar called
the Lounge on a Tuesday evening. My friend Rob hooked
up a small system and decks. They all played, hung
out, shot some pool and chatted to us for about 3 hours.
It was really intimate and enjoyable. Very approachable people,
and generally interested in what we were playing etc.
