i can't speak for anyone else on this list, but i ASSUME and *hope* most (if not all of us) listen to more than just IDM. personally, i definitely can't listen to one style of music all the time- it gets tiring! i enjoy all types of music and have only recently (last couple of years) begun listening to the likes of BOC, aphex, squarepusher, oval, MOM, FSOL, etc, etc, etc. i'm the type that'll put on "feed me weird things" next to stevie wonder, next to joni mitchell, next to john coltrane, next to my bloody valentine, next to blackalicious, next to shakti... you get the point. i think it is really important to have a wide taste in music whether you are an IDM/hip-hop/indie/jazz/R&B/whatever head. music doesn't evolve in a vacuum. as for soul, i can feel a lot of the aforementioned artists, but after listening to three oval cdees in a row (or any three cdees in a row for that matter), i need to put something else on! zachary zim200@is7.nyu.edu --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
