i used to listen to a lot of bedhead/low/american analog set..still do. i
wasn't really surprised to see the owl low remixes, or u-ziq and kevin
shields remixing YLT. i could care less about mogwai and their umbros or
whatever.
in my experience, i've met idmers that have come from two
backgrounds: hip-hop and indie. usually, the hip-hop kids dig the dj sets
and faster, jazzier grooves, while the indie folks cross over into the
more ambient stuff. now i know that this is a generalization, but it has
been pretty accurate and representative so far. on the other hand, i have
a sneaking suspicion that this might be a regional thing (austin,
tx) rather than a national experience.
topic tangent #2: how old is everyone? i think that most of the IDMers
that i speak with are mid-to-late 20's (25 here). i ask this because i
think that it does help define the context of "where we're from".

seesik
