Last week was a bittersweet farewell to Bassland. While it sucks to se
them go, both Stuart and Alex will both continue making music so we won't
really be deprived.
In the meantime, I caught 'Jaded', a band featuring Tina Yothers (of
Family Ties fame) on vocals at an awful pick-up bar in Newport Beach.
I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to get my ass kicked by one
of the many ex-marine types who were trying to pick up on one of the
many drunken bimbos. Add a white-trash MGD to boot, and it was quite an
evening.
Wednesday, February 10th, 8-10pm - George Sarah of THC Ambient Performance
George Sarah has taken on many faces with THC, from trance to
drum n' bass to vocal trip hop with a string quartet. In doing
this, he seldom has a chance to perform his ambient material. Tune
in for this rare set, including a special version of my favorite
Cathexis track, Manatee. (Cathexis is George from THC and Dean
From Surface 10).
Wednesday February 17th, 8-10pm - L'usine Performs Live
Radio virgin L'usine (pronounced lou-zine) performs live for the
first time on Space Disco for Fish Tacos. His demo contains new
IDM material that doesn't fall into the trap of copying well
established artists. Tune in to check it out, besause this is an
artist you'll probably be seeing around more often.
Wednesday, February 24th, 8-10pm - Lexaunculpt Performs Live
Lexaunculpt, also known as Alex Graham, is a KUCI favorite. He's
performed on Space Disco For Fish Tacos as Hazel Window, Your
Choroid Coat and as Lexaunculpt. He's performed at two KUCI
benefit shows and donated a track to Loraine, the KUCI benefit
compilation. His first release, 'Oh, here's some noises' not only
recieved heavy KUCI airplay, but it was voted IDM single of the
year. Alex will perform live and discuss his new release on
Orange, 'Double Density'.
Space Disco For Fish Tacos has been on the air for three years,
featuring weekly live performances and interviews by electronic musicians
from southern California and abroad. Tune in every Wednesday evening from
8-10pm on KUCI 88.9fm, broadcasting at 200 watts to the greater
Orange County area. KUCI is also broadcast on the net 24 hours a day at
www.kuci.org.
Some past guests have included (In no particular order): Mixmaster

Ultrawide, The Electric Company, A Produce, Max Vaxx & The Rain People
(and the list keeps growing).
KUCI Is a closed studio, which means we are not equipped to have an
audience, so please don't ask to come down. Exceptions have been few
and far between, but due to recent theft problems I will definitely
not be allowing people to come down for the show. Whereas nothing has
been stolen during my show, I intend to keep it that way.
In addition, I am not able to make copies of live performances for
listeners. I understand that people out of KUCI's signal want to get
a hold of some of the live performances that I have, but those
performances are the property of the artist and out of respect for
them I cannot make duplications. However, once the signal is released from
our transmitter, I have no control over listeners making duplications.
