i understand the parallel between baseball cards and record collecting--
my boyfriend was collecting baseball cards and sports stats before he
became a record whore. that kind of consumption is NOT a measure of
appreciation... it's just a different way of doing things, and guys
possess a gendered and innate tendency to collect stuff just to brag and
swing cock about it on the playground. quite honestly, i think it's cause
guys NEED something to talk about, and talking about their hobbies is a
safeguard from discussing emotions or personal stuff that guys always run
away from. albeit i also know guys who are super emo and wonderful and
also talk about records all day, but you get my drift...
like you, i prefer to get most of my CDs freefree and spend my money on
finer things- i still have more than enough beautiful new music to fill my
24/7. hehehe.
