I was wondering if any of you could recommend a good
and fast MP3 encoding program(.wav to MP3). I downloaded
one but the bugger took over an hour to do a 5 minute
track......seems way too long considering I'm on a pentium
200. Don't worry about me copying obscure Autechre mixes
and putting them up on my page or anything. I just
want to do a couple of my own tracks so ya'll can hear them
I believe the fastest mp3 encoder, MP3 Compressor, was taken offline because of some copyright infringment stink with the company that developed the codec it used. There's another encoder called MPEG Layer-3 Producer Professional, but it's like 400 dollars US, and is a bit slower than Compressor. I use mpeg Encoder, which is slow as hell, but it gets the job done. And it's supposedly the only freeware encoder that's legal. So I think unless you can get a copy of MP3 Compressor somehow, you're gonna be stuck waiting forever to get your tracks done. BTW, I found all this out at
