1. KO -WRECK TECHNIQUE - Ko-wrecktion (Warp) 1999 CDEP Should I like rap, hip-hop, scratches, etc. more I would be stunned by this Ep. However, being rather cold to those music streams and techniques I would comment on it as a good scratch, hip-hop idm for those who are into it. DJ Craze must have included his stylish scratchy DJ technique over the general supervision from PBO to produce excellent example of style combination and experimentation with sound. However, the fantastic remix by Plaid (in his recent Restproof Clockwork way) makes the whole EP worth buying nevertheless. IMHO: 5 of 10 2. FREEFORM - Prowl (Warp) 1996 CDEP I love the guy. His stuff is absolutely different in each album but still can be arranged in one concept: freestyle electronic music. Polirhythmic waves and layers of clicks, blops and other normal idm sounds mix in absolutely new unexplored directions making it sound different yet just as involving and stunning. This one is more experimental (in a way of music intensity) than other releases from him in, more sounds rich and less ambient. IMHO: 8 of 10 3. BOLA - Soup (Skam) 1998 CD I know that many have told their opinions on this one before and can only add that this is a prefect example of professional slow electronica (idm ambient) to date. Should be listened in the whole to make proper effect. Nothing to particulary grab you attention much during listenting yet very involving and "reality making" (I use this term to describe a music that is well fit for backgrounds and upon listening evokes a feeling of envelopping into new layers of reality carring you far away in your daydreaming - very subjective indeed). IMHO: 8 of 10 4. DAVID KRISTIAN - "Room Tone" (Alien8) 1999 CD The most unexplored field of his music for me. Full Kristian flavor dark ambient soundtracks being his recent obsession. Only the last track sounds like something from "Beneath the Valley of Modular Synths". Other stuff is pure low volume analogue dark ambient based on traditional Kristian sound of cold analogue synths beauty. Fans of dark ambient and devoted fans of Kristian this is for you. IMHO: 7 of 10 - NO SPAM MOVEMENT - (only music content) Alien np.
