This is one of those albums that I pick up and look at every time I'm in the
store. I listened to a lot of it instore once, and it reminded me of Vibert's
big Soup, except much bettera mix of abstract hiphop, space dub, weirdness, a
killer DnB track or two, and other stuff. I later heard some of the album
again at a lower volume and wasn't as impressed, so I don't know quite what to
think. I've heard decent things about Genetic flaw, but also that it's weird
for the sake of being weird. Also heard that his singles are better than his
albumshe has tracks on a lot of the Liquid Sky/Home Entertainment comps
Info on Wally: Yeah, he's part of the NYC scene, originally from Russia or
something. Sort of a crossover between the more ambient/illbient stuff-dub,
etc., and the jungle scene. He often tagteams with Swingsett (David Winsett I
think). Very good livethey'll mix jungle with Send in the Clowns, and do
other dancefloor stoppers, which often relegates them to the back room where
people aren't dancing. IMO the most interesting dance-oriented djs in the
Liquid Sky/HomeEntertainment scene. They have a track on deep Concentration
on OM, believe it's called Centurion Space Bass or something.
On a related note, has anyone heard the new Soulslinger remix album? Wally
does a mix or 2, as does 1.8.7. and other NYCers. I wanted to buy the
Soulslinger album but I heard bad things about itdo the remixes cut out the
crap?
