picking up (as I've never heard any of his stuff before) or would it be a better introduction/more economical to buy one or two of his important releases? Are his important ones In C (or was that by terry riley?), Music for 18 Musicians, Drumming, Four Organs, it's Gonna rain? Are there any major omissions/flaws in the box set? Botttom line is, i want to hear the innovators, and $50 for 10 Cds is a good deal, but still a large chunk of change for one unheard artist. All opinions appreciated. << In C was Riley. IMHO Steve Reich rocks; if I had seen this for $50, I'd buy it on the spot. Music for 18 Musicians--I can't speak highly enough of this--it goes on for a whole hour and my interest doesn't flag... at all...! I haven't heard the new Goldie, but I doubt I could say as much of that. And the new performance of 18 musicians recorded for this set is supposed to blow the old one out of the water (though I haven't heard it). DON'T pass this up! Hell, if you end up not liking it, I'll buy it from you :) -- but really, there's little chance of that. Run, do not walk, back to the store... J ________ \ / | "Who's Martha Stewart?" H.
