I'll also recommend the 'Isolationism: Ambient Vol 4' compilation. Just picked this up last week when I found it at one of those chain store's cast off bins for $5. It's a 2CD comp of beautiful drones w/ a little bit O' beats. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: (idm) throne of the drones Author: "Zenon M. Wonderful if you're into this kind of thing! Not this-listy at all, more proper to the ambient list. Exactly as its title suggests. Not the throney part, but the droney part. Not a beat in sight. Drones, from ethnic to electronic. Get tantric, get down, get bored to tears? Call me silly, but I like it, even though I almost never listen to it. Requires a certain mood to appreciate. Most of the drones are rather dark, by the way. I listen much more to Sheila Chandra's drone album, which surprisingly (as it's a single artist's work, rather than a comp) seems to cover more varied mood territory. Enjoy! 3
