I wrote to ask about this at the time, but got no reply. I was thinking
the same thing -- did I really have a better copy available than Coil, was
the distortion deliberate, or...?

"Another Brown World" and "Contains a Disclaimer" were the only other
tracks available on CD already at the time (well, "The Hills are Alive"
also, but I don't have that comp). Those 2 seemed fine to me. I may even
have compared them closely, given the distortion on the Hellraiser tracks,
but I don't recall. The other tracks were on 7" vinyl, which is a problem
to start with, sound-wise.
