Varies. Most of the stuff refered to on this list is 28.8 Real Audio and sounds like AM radio. It's just enough to get people interested in the music. It probably increases sales. I've bought stuff after hearing the real audio. MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) audio sounds about as good as a cassette dub of a CD and could well be regarded as a threat to sales if the internet was a free resource. But it isn't free. Downloading a 50 Meg MP3 instead of buying the CD/Vinyl is bad economics.
