the "divine proportion" is also known as the Phi ratio and is approximated
at 1.6180339. this number is refered to as a "transcendental number" as it
never repeats itself.
the Phi ratio is a proportion...if you have a square (which itself has all
sorts meaning) and then draw a line down its middle giving you two equal
sections with A as the width of the left section. draw a diagonal in the
right section B. A+B=C...A/B=B/C=1.6180339. rotating the diagonal line B
untill it is at 180 degrees giving you line C (A+B=C) will give you the
"golden mean rectangle". if you take the shortest edge and make a square
you then have another rectangle proportional to the bigger one by 1.618
creating a spiral that goes in and out infinitly.
the bone structure of organic life is based on this ratio...the first bone
in the finger is in Phi ratio to the second as is the second to the third
etc...same for the feet and legs.
the greeks werent quite all that and it was medievil man by the name of
leonardo fibonicci who improved upon this by observing plant life and the
sequences they utilize to grow. the "fibonicci spiral" which is derived
from the "golden spiral" is the same logarithmic spiral that the pryamids
on the giza plateau are layed out in...as are the "martian monuments".
there are also correlations amongst the chakra system, the 8 note musical
scale, and the fibonicci spiral.
