but techno in general *is* hugely derivative. in fact i blame DJ culture for the whole mess. truth is, DJs like records that all sound the same. makes it easier to mix. so if you're going to clubs and you're hearing these DJs, and then you get inspired to do your own record, of course you're going to make it sound mostly like all the other ones.

there is a ton of boring, unoriginal music coming out in the techno arena. however, i think we can all agree that meat beat and plug stand head and shoulders above the rest. i have no problem with dissing techno (in general) but still liking the one or two particular things that are obviously inspired. -- Jon Drukman jsd@gamespot.com SpotMedia Communications ...I was an infinitely hot and dense dot...
