the artists name is brandi ifgray. i got the disk for the sole reason that it was produced by jimi tenor, i thought it was going to sound like most of tenor's newer works, very nice mostly-very-well-produced tracks with a sleezy lounge feel. it doesn't fit that description at all, i found the main problem to be coming from the vocals, not ifgray's ability to sing, but the style of "singing" the album is filled with. dry, hollow, emotionless, vocals that too often end up sounding tired, because it merely sounded like he was trying too hard to come off as a lounge act. upon the first listen is might sound as though the problem might have been the lack of dynamics in the instruments, but then later i remembered one of jimi tenors earlier 12"s called europa, which slightly lacks some variety in "sounds" compared to his full length on warp, but still ends up being just as brilliant as all of his other tracks new and old. so, i guess i didn't really like the ifgray album all too much, even though there are about two tracks which do stand out and are very nice. oh, and the lyrics are almost completely meaningless... do yourself a favor and go buy something on crippled dick hot wax records like some old horror-porn soundtrack or a jerry van rooyen reissue... -kiya np: saucer 12" (karoake kalk 03) the a-side has one of the most amazing drum n bass tracks i've heard all year. yup, even better than anything squarepusher's touched this year, even though i AM a fan...
