You should check the Aphex Twin fax in the latest Jockey Slut. this would fit both the categories of "Acting Strange" and "Playing up the Media"
quoted 2 lines but it's probably safe to say it's as fake as his media identity. I>but it's probably safe to say it's as fake as his media identity. I >find it hard to beleive there's a difference between the two.
I hink its more a question of levels of commerciality. AFX and Prodigy are perhaps doing largely the same thing, as you say, but at the high level of exposure afforded the Prodigy, their actions are exaggerated both by their exposure and the groups own response to that exposure. AFX meanwhile can get away with things with less fear of criticism from purists, as he has a smaller band interested in him, and many of them are purists anyway. It's a question of playing the game. ? perhaps. J ^ Steady J aka James Skilton steady-j@geocities.com Autechre & SKAM discogs @ http://subnet.virtual-pc.com/~sk393820
