here's some reviews for y'all. though i don't know if that's quite
relevant these days...;)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul W. Teebrooke..OWE002..Otherworld
Mr. Teebrooke is going somewhere. With talent to spare, he forges two
tracks of incredibly complex Detroit-inspired machine music. Witness the
genius in its raw uncut form in this uncomprising 12" of abstract techno.
Strictly for the head. 9/10
Endemic Void/Elixir..EVE001..EVES
Some fresh breaks on display here, as well as live instrumentation,
although not much is done with either. The AAA side, entitled Chronos, is
where the goods are; an understated dark vibe prevails throughout, with
horns in the right places, a haunting piano riff, and strings
over the top. The flip side is more of a slinky jazz-lite affair with
some delicious live improvisatory sax. Overall, pleasant but not very
groundbreaking. 6/10
Mouse on Mars..Cache Couer Naif..Thrill Jockey/Too Pure
Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab spins little French nothings over the
signature Mouse on Mars sound: intergalactic whizzes and whirs bathed in
gentle arcs of feedback and deep, dubby bass. Funkier than Iaora Tahiti,
this entire EP is a gem. 10/10
