Jammin' Unit "Deaf, Dub and Blind" (Instinct) 32 in the shade / handbagdub / thirst at dawn / blind television thirst at dawn / the story of...4 E's undead mix / stomach trouble dub dub is in the air / deaf, dub and blind featuring Terrible the story of brad wilson... / life on the balkon / over the jordan lots of marijuana / the remoteman (bonus CD track) I also want to do a little dance for this nice little number that arrived in my mailbox today.... Jammin' Unit's "Deaf, Dub and Blind" released through Instinct Electronica. Reminds me a bit of the oldish circa 1994 bleeps and blorps. Unlike a lot of the present day heavy drum'n bass records and techno releases, I find this record to be light, late hazy listening.... 14 tracks including last year's "Handbagdub" (though mildy tweaked up) from Macro Dub Infection 2 (shock... horror!). I'd love to describe this warm, soothing release... grrr.... it's a record of blorps, brainless yet hardly elementary gummy popcorn jams. Highlights include "blind television," spunky dub beats with soft melodies that creep closer as the track progresses.... very soothing. Also, try listening to Terrible's undecipherable babblings on "Deaf, Dub and Blind" without smirking. It's pretty goofy. In all, I'd say Jammin' Unit's solo creation (outside of Air Liquide that is) is a very solid, admirable release. Buy it blind.... 8/10 Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "everything you know is wrong." new url For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.on-it.net/~aaron/ aaron@on-it.net
