Just a note of caution- I've been to shows where Mr. James was solicited to be the opener or at least somewhere in the line-up (Bjork tour of 95 eg.). Needless to say I was quite stoked that I was going to be able to see Bjork and Aphex in one setting. The lights go down, the crowd gets pumped up and what do we get, but a fucking dat tape of stuff he mixed for the first 30 minutes of the show. No Richard in sight. So, I thought, well maybe he's hidden down below somewhere and will surface at some point. No surfacing. So, after the entire concert was over, I thought maybe he'll be playing upstairs in the back room for a cool chill-out/experimental set. NOPE. The bastard didn't even show up.! Later, I found out through other friends around the country that he didn't appear at any of those shows either. I don't know about you, but when your name goes on the flyer and you've been booked to perform, I think you should actually make a physical appearance! I'm sorry, but playing a tape for an audience who have paid to see your perform doen't cut it. Otherwise, I would have stayed home and played/mixed my own set of trax from him. Maybe I'm asking too much. Anyway, if you go to the Sneaker Pimps show just to see Mr. James, don't count on him being there. Go because you like the Sneaker Pimps (They're much better live anyway). You've been warned. bEn Synaptic Records (Rick and Ben) 608 S. Broadway Denver, CO 80209 (303) 722-9428 (phone) (303) 722-9540 (fax) synaptic@eazy.net www.eazy.net/synaptic-records/
