Well, the ball is in YOUR court on this one, since my take on IDM is that its just something you feel...if i listen to something, and think it sounds idm'ish(i can't explain...its hard to put into words) and i discuss it here, i'm almost always right. Which is how everyone else does it as well. I mean, you can't tell me you sit down with a cd and go through a list of elements of music that are and aren't idm, before posting, eh? And by the way, idm is in a LARGE growth and development period, as it is relatively new as a genre, so to simplify idm into what IS and ISN'T idm based on(what? what DO you base the fact that Chem Bros aren't idm on?) certain criteria is to devalue and provide unecessary boundries to the music. Of course there has to be a line drawn somwhere, but i think its blatently obvious that we don't or shouldn't discuss ABBA here(unless Aphex comes out with the remix for "Dancing Queen" soon...haha), but the boundries in my opinion where the chemical brothers are concerned get hazy. I guarantee that there are elements in their music that can be found in many of YOUR concepts of idm music. So i would ask YOU, what is it that makes Chemical Brothers NOT idm? Oh, this post is for anyone who disagreed with my above statements(i deleted most of them by accident). Thanks for listening! np: Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream(now, this is most definately NOT an idm group...i can tell you that much) Ali "It means we'll manage I'll master your language And in the meantime I'll create my own" (Tricky)
