Um, it seems to me that many people working at MTV probably have pretty
extensive, even encyclopedic knowledge of many genres of music. It's their job,
it's what they do all day long.
------
what a waste of good talent, to use encyclopedic knowledge to decide how
many times a day the can show jenny mcCarthy's breasts, how many times the
can play scarface videos, and how they can cash in on the next big thing,
will the road rules gang get their next clue? or will the real world have
another handbag house dj named lars? ... the last thing you will hear on MTV
is music.
-------
And the people who make AMP probably listen to a couple of thousand electronic
music records and cds every year. These guys aren't rock people who are
"cashing in on the electronica craze". MTV's top people (who are probably still
into Springsteen) hired *other people* to make amp, and the people they hired
were people just like us, people who have loved electronic music for many
years.
The people who are probably into springsteen are the ones who decided to
cash in on the next big thing and hire these people to exploit the music, I
hardly believe a person like myself who loves electronic music would take a
job knowing that a large " Cheese " Corporation who did not care for the
music would be behind the whole deal. MTV is too big to Care, They have the
power to be something wonderful but the channels they use now are a large
cry for help..I wish I could go to work and say, " ya see the special last
night about beaumont hannant on MTV last night?" I don't see it happening
to quickly..
I'd betcha most of the people on this list would drop everything and
come-a-running if they were offered a electronic music related job working at
MTV.
... not me.. :)
thanks,
