I have 2 Technics 1200's both with Stanton Trackmaster cartridges and
both with the Stanton T-AL stylus. I have noticed recently that some of
the records which I play quite often are getting very noisey. The spots
where the records show noticeable noise are the spots from which I cue
the records up from. Is this a sign of needle wear or could it be that
I should be using a different needle or stylus? I have the needles
weighted at around 3.7 grams which sometimes is not enough weight to
even hold the groove with some records. Is this a common problem with
these needles or needles in general? I used to have the Stanton 680 EL
cartridges but I could never get these weighted enough to prevent them
from jumping out of the record grooves when I was cueing stuff up.
Though this was a problem I never did notice any record wear when using
these needles. Anyone have any similar experiences or have any advice
they can give me. If anyone can answer any of these questions I would
really appreciate it.
