Just had a semi-fruitful trip to Best Buy... picked up a couple of new
drum 'n bass comps totally in the LTJ-Bukem new-age stylee.
They're called Promised Land, there are two volumes, and each volume comes
with 2 cds, one mixed, one unmixed.
Here's the details on the first volume, to give you an idea of the age/style
of the music. Most of the tracks on the first cd were released in 94/95, while
those on the second were released mostly in 95/96 (according to the liner
notes).
Vol 1, CD 1, mixed by LTJ Bukem, annoying rap by MC Conrad:
Fokus- On Line
DJ Trace- After Hours
Adam F- Circles
Voyager- Voyager
Adam F- Aromatherapy
MI5- Experience
DJ Trace- By Any Means Necessary
Fokus- Jazzed Out
Code Blue- Angels In Dub (remix)
Adam F- F Jam
Simon 'Bassline' Smith- Midnite
DJ Crystl- Let It Roll
DJ Crystl- Meditation
ORCA- Tranquillity To Earth
Vol 1, CD 2, unmixed
Future Sound Of Hardcore- Promised Land
ORCA- Discovery
Street Science- Come To Me
Fokus- Wired
Future Sound Of Hardcore- Desire (Original Mix)
Code Blue- Angels In Dub (remix)
Atlas- Second Heaven
Future Sound Of Hardcore- Euphoria
DJ Trace- West Coast
Fokus- On Line (Dub Mix)
Adam F- Sea Of Destiny
MI6- Groundhog Day
My only real complaint about this compilation is the recording level. It's
too quiet. Normally, my Numark 1180 mixer red-lines at about 5/10 on the
CD input, but I have to crank it up to about 7.5/10 to even get it in the red
zone. I guess that's the price you pay when you pay only $13.99 for all this
music! :) (that's per volume).
Anyway, the cover artwork isn't the worst artwork ever, but you would probably
think its a new-age album if you didn't read the label. The first volume has
some trees, a waterfall cascading from them, and a strange bird flying toward
the left, underneath the logo.
Recommended for those wanting to start a d-n-b collection, and like
chilled vibes.
